The Ocean Resort Inn is located in a prime spot just one block from the beach in Montauk, offering easy access to the town and amenities. While some recent reviews highlight cleanliness and value, concerns exist regarding room size, wear and tear, and a defensive approach from staff regarding guest feedback.
The rooms are so so so small and so there's no privacy if you get downstairs room. Plus its noisy - there are quiet hours yet you hear someoens tv all nigh, upstairs, crappy ac unit. The best thing is location to the beach, chairs/umbrella, and pool area was nice. Update: after sharing this they called to ask about my experience. It turned into him telling me my feedback isn't fair and blah blah. It feels like instead of getting to the root of the issue or feedback to understand the disconnet OR anything that might be helpful to learn/improve, it was more to defensively tell me why I'm wrong and get me to change my review -- and he asked via email after. It turns out I was wrong about booking and non-courtyard room does not mean its upstairs, etc. However, i dislike places that focus more on defending themselves than actually listening to their customers and taking feedback constructively.
I recently spent a night at the Ocean Resort, my third time staying at the property. Unfortunately, this experience was vastly different from my previous visits. Despite the cleanliness, I couldn't shake the feeling that both the Ocean Resort and its sister property are showing signs of wear and tear. My ground floor Queen room was a compromise due to availability, and it fell far short of my expectations. The space was tiny, dark, and claustrophobic, with a permanently sealed window featuring cracked glass. The dusty, dark curtains only added to the room's dismal atmosphere. The overwhelming smell of cheap cleaning chemicals was the final straw, forcing me to leave the door and bathroom window open to alleviate the odor. To my disappointment, the room had a cheap motel feel, contradicting the resort's advertised exclusivity. When the chemical smell finally dissipated, it was replaced by a musty smell indicative of poor maintenance. I asked at the front desk if there is a possibility of a room change, but both properties were fully booked. However, I sensed that the staff was aware of the room's subpar quality. As someone with fond memories of the Ocean Resort, this experience was truly disheartening. I hope that management will invest in renovations to restore the property's former charm and exclusivity. Attention to detail and a focus on maintaining the resort's initial vision would go a long way in making stays memorable once again.
We had the best time Scarlet in the Reception Area could not be nicer and very helpful. I hope she is valued as she should be.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Montauk, incredibly clean and beautiful with excellent amenities and awesome staff. Just across from the beach, this hotel is THE hidden gem of Montauk. As much as I’d love to gatekeep it, they deserve 5 stars across the board so I had to review! We will definitely be returning next summer.
Our room was recently updated and very nice. Great location - one block from the beach and a short walk into town. Beautiful pool. Our room was small, but ok. Good value, considering how pricey Montauk has become.
Cute hotel one block from the beach. We only spent one day but the staff was easy going and the room was clean. Great value for price and location. I liked how they have chairs and umbrellas to take to the beach with you too. I loved that we could see the ocean from our window.
