The Menhaden consistently receives rave reviews for its exceptional hospitality, charming atmosphere, and prime location in Greenport. Guests frequently highlight the friendly and attentive staff, delicious complimentary snacks and treats, and a variety of amenities including a rooftop deck and bike rentals. It’s a popular spot for weekend getaways and anniversary trips, known for creating unforgettable experiences.
What a lovely boutique hotel! Having grown up on Long Island, my best friends and I reunited for a 2-night stay at the Menhaden. Perfect location near the water, transportation (including ferry to Shelter Island), shops, wineries and restaurants. The guest service was top notch with wonderful John, assisting us with cocktails, recommendations, a tour of the hotel and ANYTHING we wanted. He is the definition of hospitality and it shows that he really enjoys his job. The galley had amazing croissants, cookies, snacks, coffee drinks, soda, juice etc....all included in our room charge. The roof deck is spectacular with lounges, fire pits and smore. We can't wait to go back!
Mario and the entire staff were a master class in hospitality - warm, kind, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. Rooms were beautiful, the freshly baked croissants and cookies were to die for, and the entire hotel looked and felt so warm/cute - super coastal living look and feel. They were so helpful in coordinating an entire weekend itinerary for us - including taking care of all dinner, winery tour, and driver reservations (truly making the planning stress free - priceless)! Prime location - all restaurants, bars, coffee shops were in walking distance. 10/10 - Highly recommend. We’ll definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Greenport!
I just stayed at the Menhaden this weekend for my birthday with my husband. It was an amazing experience!! When we first walked in, everyone was so nice and welcoming! Shout out to Mario the general manager, Alex and Dan and John, who were awesome at so many different times of the day during our stay. The room was great #15, loved the heated floors in the bathroom. When we got back at night we went to the bar and the cocktails were so amazing!! The kitchenette on every floor was great. Croissants in the morning and warm chocolate chip cookies at night! We will definitely be back! Thank you!
Kaylee,, Jon and Alex were true professionals in making our stay here at the hotel. We booked very last minute on a recommendation from a friend through Kaylee . She was so delightful and accommodating and met every one of my expectations as far as the room request. Upon arriving at the hotel , Jon and Alex greeted us and all through our stay they went above and beyond . They were exemplary in giving great service. As far as the rooms , they we're very bright and well appointed , pretty spacious and immaculately clean. Our dog had a nice area as well to sprawl and relax. One very unusual perk was the snack area located on each floor for the guest. Throughout the day It was a "free for all ""including hot and cold beverages , various nuts, candies , cookies and chips and mornings with selective cereal , yogurts, muffins and Crusants. An all out continental breakfast . The bar/restaraunt area was beautiful , tastefully designed with a rustic yet modern feel . Plenty of tables to sit at and all accompanied with choice of games as a past time. There was even an abundance of old albums to choose from that could be amplified throughout the stereo system. We loved everything about this boutique hotel but in hospitality, it rates supreme. Oh don't miss the sunset on the roof top . Even in the dead of winter , we were able to relax on the couches and enjoy the warmth of the fire pits. So pet friendly and the best location..... Thank you guys....we will return. Geri C
Went on a little getaway to ThevMenhaden this past weekend. This was our second time there and absolutely love it ! First - the people at the front desk are so kind, so helpful, so welcoming! Second - and my favorite -is the Galley on the room floor with all the goodies - esp the hot chocolate chip cookies at night time ! And third is the location. Great restaurants that you can walk to and beautiful wineries a short drive away ! This will be our yearly getaway!
This was our third stay at The Menhaden, and once again it absolutely exceeded our expectations. Everything was perfect — the rooms, the atmosphere, the service, all of it. The staff was incredible, so warm and genuinely helpful. And John was outstanding; he went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. We felt truly taken care of from start to finish. Can’t wait to come back again!
The service at the menhaden was absolutely outstanding !! My husband and I spent 3 nights here for a little end of year getaway. The vibes were immaculate. The location is right near the shelter island ferry and right in the cute little town of greenport. But above all else, the service really blew us away. The entire staff went above and beyond for us. They were all extremely friendly. It even snowed on our last night, and the team cleaned the snow off our car for us before we even got downstairs the next morning ! My husband forgot a razor, it was dropped off to our room in seconds. We wanted ice for our new years champagne, it was brought up nearly instantly. Extra special shoutout to John, who quickly responded to texts for any questions we had, personally fixed a small issue with our shower in our room, and made us feel extremely welcome. Also a super cool guest “galley” with fun snacks, great coffee, light breakfast, and yummy desserts. The entire staff at the Menhaden was beyond friendly and kind. All smiles all the time. Can’t wait to come back !
My husband and I took a little getaway at The Menhaden and absolutely loved our experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Alex and John, who were kind, professional, and incredibly informative. They made us feel welcome right away. The lounge was such a cozy and fun space, with games at the tables and a bar that made it perfect for relaxing. In the galley, they offered orange juice, coffee, yogurt, cereal, and fresh-baked croissants. We slept in and missed breakfast, but when we asked about the croissants, Kaylee kindly started the oven just for us—such a thoughtful touch. We completely fell in love with the place, and everyone we interacted with was absolutely incredible. The attention to detail and genuine hospitality made our stay unforgettable. Highly recommend The Menhaden for anyone looking for a special and relaxing getaway.
Hands down the best stay out east we have ever had! We frequently stay out east for quick getaways and have had great times. This was different. We needed a desperate break from our hectic life at home. When we arrived we found that for a winter getaway the location was within walking distance from all restaurants and shops. The two men at the desk, Alex and Dan directed us to every single restaurant giving us the best recommendations. The snacks and treats included with the stay Was only one of the best parts about the hotel, fresh bake cookies and croissants every day as well as espresso, Coca-Cola and sparkling water. When we arrived a snowstorm hit within the hour dropping a good 6 to 7 inches Of snow. When we woke found the owner out there, had shoveled the entire parking lot and cleaned off our cars. Never in our life of travel has that ever happened. This is the place you want to stay when you’re in Greenport. It is worth every single penny spent. We already can’t wait to go back!
We arrived at The Menhaden the day after Christmas for a quiet getaway. We weren’t sure what to expect since a snowstorm was in the forecast for the time we were to be there. The premium king room was lovely with a nice sized bathroom. The bed was so comfortable and the linens were of very good quality. The floor had a galley that everyone on the floor could enjoy. The galley had a refrigerator with soda, milk, orange juice, yogurt and ice cream bars. They had snacks such as chips, skittles, sweet tarts, jelly beans , m&ms and some peanuts etc. These were all for your enjoyment as part of the room fee. At night, they put out warm chocolate chip cookies and for breakfast there was chocolate, plain croissants and cereals. There was coffee and sparkling and flat water for you to enjoy. The staff was incredibly friendly and much to our surprise, they cleaned off our car the snow and dug us out. There is a bar to play games and a coffee shop/ store that we did not use. Overall, this was an amazing stay and we highly recommend this hotel. We hope to make this a yearly trip.
