Sound View Greenport receives overwhelmingly positive reviews, primarily focusing on its beautiful waterfront location and scenic sunsets. Guests frequently praise the staff's hospitality and the relaxing atmosphere, especially during events like the Nameless Writers Salon. However, a significant concern regarding privacy and noise levels in rooms has been raised, alongside issues with inconsistent restaurant availability and high fees.
I had a fantastic time at the Open Mic event at The Halyard! The atmosphere was vibrant, and the live music in such a scenic waterfront setting really made the night special. The writers an d poets who read their work were amazing The local flavor and welcoming crowd created the perfect backdrop to enjoy both talented performers and delicious small bites from the Piano Bar. Congratulations to Kara Hoblin for organizing and hosting this wonderful event on a cold winter night. I look forward to attending more in the future, Michael Cannistraci
My wife and I were in much need of a weekend getaway somewhere we could truly unplug, disconnect from the world, and reset. On a total spur of the moment decision, we packed up the car (and our dog), drove out during the beginning of a snowstorm, and intentionally tried to get snowed in. We hadn’t even booked a room, we just took a chance and went for it. From the moment we arrived it felt like we made the perfect choice. The room was incredibly cozy, the staff was welcoming and kind, and our ocean view was exactly what we didn’t know we needed. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves literally rocked me to sleep like a baby, it was that peaceful. Being right on the water made the whole experience feel grounding and restorative. We ordered dinner at the Halyard restaurant that night and it was absolutely amazing. After staying here, we honestly wish we had chosen this place as our wedding venue. We recently got married, and this place would have been perfect. Being near the water is where I feel most inspired, and this spot instantly became a favorite. I brought my weekend film camera along and documented parts of our winter stay. Sharing a few of the images from our trip and truly can’t wait to return.
Sound View in Greenport, NY absolutely exceeded my expectations! The service was excellent from first greeting to goodbye, the rooms were very clean, well cared for, and you can tell they take pride in their work. The location for our visit was PERFECT! You will a beautiful view of Long Island Sound in any room that you stay in. I don’t normally write reviews, but I would yell from the rooftops how highly I recommend this hotel! Thank you again for the great hospitality! Sam V
Our son got married at Sound View in November. The entire experience was something my husband and I will remember forever..The food was great , the servers were attentive and the room overlooking the LI Sound was amazing. We had passed by this place many times over our many years on Long Island..we often said we should stay there sometime but our son and his wife gave us a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the two days we were there..I send the entire staff our thanks for making our stay most memorable!!
So much to love about Sound View -- an unmatched front row seat to take in the L.I. Sound seascape and revel in spectacular sunsets, an inventive menu, and a staff that makes you feel like a regular from day one. I'm also a fan of Sound View's events and the person who curates them -- director of guest culture and experiences Kara Hoblin. Kara really sets the tone for what makes Sound View a true reflection of the North Fork . . . a creative mecca where both locals and visitors alike feel energized, connected and at home. From the Nameless Writers Salon and music at the Low Tide Beach Bar to holiday markets and piano bar experiences, I always look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. It was great to have the Nameless Writers Salon kick off last week -- the writers dazzled (I laughed! I cried!), my table of strangers became friends, and I loved the fish sandwich and my cocktail, too. More, please!
Had the pleasure of attending the Nameless Writer’s Salon this week at the Soundview. The evening’s readings, by acclaimed authors, were deeply moving—made all the more memorable by the wild Long Island Sound crashing beneath us that night. Thank you for creating a cultural space where myths, origins, and contradictions of human identity can be explored with such honesty and depth. I enjoyed the delicious butternut humus appetizer that was delightful and seasonal. Friends had the smash burgers and chicken Caesar which looked amazing. It was a privilege to be part of it!
Came here for an event called The Nameless Writers Salon which was held at the Sound View's library. What an incredible night! There was a small food menu and everything we ordered was delicious! The event itself was fantastic and I cannot wait to come back for the next one! The organizers did a great job curating a cozy and inspiring evening. It's things like this that make the North Fork such a special place to be.
We live on Long Island and decided to have a one night getaway for some much needed change of environment and rest on a beautiful weekend by the water. We checked in and were told immediately that the restaurant for dinner was full but if we came at 5:00 we could be seated at benches with a coffee table to eat dinner. It was 3:30 and we asked if we could eat a late lunch and they said no. They were closed. That’s because they rent the rooms but close the main restaurant. For $1,000 the room left much to be desired as previous posts mention. The real fun occurred because we apparently had an adjoining room with a couple who had a marathon sexual encounter beginning upon our check in and lasting through the next morning. Kudos to them! They did nothing wrong, however we felt like we were in the same room as them. Hearing every sound they made. For $1,000 per night one would certainly expect more privacy on both ends. We felt like we were in a porn movie all night. Plus the sound of the traffic from the road outside felt like we were on the LIE. So much for a relaxing evening for us. To add insult to injury, when we checked out we were told we had to pay $29 to park our car in their lot and a resort fee. Absolutely outrageous. This is nothing more than a motel6 worthy of perhaps $300. Just because the motel has a water view you cannot gouge customers and have little concern for all else. We ate in town and came back to the piano bar minus the piano player. Couldn’t wait to leave.
Beautiful hotel right on the water with pool and private beach. All of the rooms along with the restaurant and bars are well designed and have an upscale beach look to them. Our room had a private balcony which was very large. One downside is the balconies are separated by canvas rather than permanent walls. Overall wonderful experience and would highly recommend.
The facility needs to be refurbished, inside and out. Staff and breakfast was average. Other than the view, this property is over priced and we'll under valued. Paying for parking ($29/night) when you park your own car in an outside lot, which is not reserved is ridiculous. Pet friendly, but room was not clean of animal hair. Beware of allergies.
