Montauk Yacht Club offers a classic East End coastal experience with stunning waterfront views and a historic ambiance. Recent renovations have enhanced the property, however, past guest experiences highlight inconsistent communication and service issues, alongside significant concerns regarding room availability and unexpected fees. Despite positive feedback regarding staff and the restaurant, a notable lack of reliability emerges from recent reviews.
Ate at the restaurant, our waitress, Presley was absolutely the best! In all honesty there was the slightest mishap with an order but she went above and beyond to make it right when it was the smallest of small issues. I would still 1000% recommend coming to eat here! Things happen, small or big, but she still made the smallest of small correct without an issue!
Booked on the basis of the tennis and padel courts being open per their own website. Only on check in were we informed the courts were not open - there was no prior communication at all from the hotel on this or any apology. The booking confirmation also stated bikes were complimentary and yet staff told us they were at an extra cost. We were also “upgraded” by front desk to the extract room we had booked on the website so am baffled as to what room exactly they were planning originally to put us in. Expensive and not worth the cost.
When you hear about Montauk and how great of a time it’s supposed to be, this is the last place you should consider staying. I booked a room months in advance, only to be turned away when I arrived. They claimed they had tried to contact me, but I never received any calls, emails, or messages. If they had actually reached out weeks or even months earlier, this situation could have been avoided. Instead, I was notified the day of my reservation after already making the trip from the city and arriving with my bags in hand. I was then told there were no rooms available because they were fully booked. The lack of communication and professionalism was extremely disappointing. Based on my experience, I would not trust this establishment with my time or money. We then went to Gurneys telling them what just happened, they immediately got it together and provided a place to stay at a cheaper price. I have never done this before but I want to help everyone looking for information on what is supposed to be a luxury place.
Loved our visit here. The renovations arr re e beautiful, and staff very attentive. Would love to return in summer but at least it was peaceful. Restaurant is beautiful and we loved seeing many filming locations for The Affair near by.
End of Long Island end of the road beginning of the Atlantic Ocean. Montauk Yacht Club sits on Star Island overlooking the marina and there is a specific moment when you pull in after the two and a half hour drive from the city the air changes your shoulders drop and you realize you are finally breathing. That is what this place gives you. The property is classic East End not flashy Hamptons not trying to impress. Just boats water sunset and some of the best seafood on the island. The cocktails at the bar are strong and the bartender knows how to read a room. I have sat out on the deck watching fishing boats come in at golden hour and it is the most New York thing you can do while feeling a million miles from New York. The rooms are clean and comfortable nothing over the top just exactly what you need after a day on the water. The restaurant does a solid lobster roll and the raw bar is always fresh. Montauk has gotten more popular over the years and some of that old fishing village charm is fading but the Yacht Club still holds onto it. This is where the island exhales. No velvet ropes no guest lists no attitude. Just salt air cold drinks and the sound of the ocean doing what it has done forever. Everyone needs a place like this. Montauk is mine.
These guys will charge you $100 for "access to all of our amenities, fitness center, pools, shore cruises ect" on top of what you already paid ---- Edit: be aware when you book this place on agoda. Agoda will charge you $100 "surcharge fee", but when you check in, hotel will charge you another $100 for the same reason. Overall the place is good. People are friendly. Food is not bad. Location is good.
I had such a great experience thanks to Mr. Peeters! He helped us get into the room we needed so effortlessly and gave us an amazing welcome. He made sure I had everything I needed for my stay and went above and beyond with his professionalism. Very impressive young man, I’ll definitely be returning!
We got married here and came back for our 10 year anniversary. The hotel has changed hands a couple of times in that time but they’ve got it right this time. The rooms are very nicely decorated, beds comfy, and the service is top notch. Highly recommend.
My husband and I really wanted a nice weekend away with our 5 month old baby. We thought going to a place charging $1100 a night would be a bit more upscale and better. How wrong we were. First when we entered the room, there was a massive wasp flying around inside. Next we specifically asked for a crib and when they forgot to put it in room. When they brought it, the sheets were visibly dirty. Later that night when we came back we wanted to relax in our room, but they had the loudest DJ outside you would have thought you were sleeping next to the DJ booth. We went to reception the next morning to change rooms, and while they did accommodate us, they rushed us to get out of the room we were currently in. We decided we wanted to go to the pool but were told we were not allowed to use the main pool which is now “adults only” and were told we could use the pool down the road. This pool had no pool side service (like the adult pool does). Later that night in our room you could still hear the DJ even though not as loud. The room next to us decided to throw a party in their room and I called the front desk to break it up and they did send someone, but whoever they sent literally said to the guest “an annoying guest needs you to stop the party. Let me comp you drinks at the bar”. An annoying guest? I had a 5 month old infant in the room and paid $2200 for 2 days!!! They didn’t even offer a free breakfast, drink or anything to us. My advice - don’t waste your money. It’s a glorified motel and they are not great at hospitality.
We were greeting by amazing front desk staff. They were interns from Italy, pleasant polite and helpful. We were upgraded to beach front room which was an incredible site to see. Maureen in the concierge was very helpful and booked our complimentary boat ride with Captain Paul. The food was amazing both at the food truck ,which is located by the family friendly pool, accompanied by a sand field, hammocks, and cornhole for entertainment, and the main restaurant. Family Friendly and Dog friendly. My children had a blast!
