Oheka Castle offers a grand and historic experience, frequently praised for its beautiful architecture, gardens, and captivating atmosphere. While many guests rave about the exceptional restaurant and attentive service, significant concerns have been raised regarding inconsistent security, discriminatory behavior, and inadequate responses to guest issues.
Stay here at your own risk. I left an expensive phone charger with two fast charging cords attached after an overnight stay. A few hours after checking out I realized iI had left it in the room so I called, was told someone would check and that I'd receive a callback. No callback was ever received, meanwhile my husband went back to the hotel and was given the charger with only one cord attached. Someone named Steve who identified himself as the manager proceeded to treat my husband like a criminal for insisting there were two cords not one, then I called and Steve chastised and belittled me for trying to retrieve my own property, saying it was no big deal and cords are cheap. Well, your rooms aren't cheap after spending good money on the room and restaurant (the restaurant staff is outstanding), this kind of unprofessionalism from a so called hotel manager and housekeeping was shocking, unbecoming and shameful.
Oheka Castle is honestly a dream to shoot at. The gardens are beautiful, and no matter where you turn, the landscape looks incredible on camera—every corner feels thoughtfully designed and effortlessly elegant. From the moment you arrive, everything photographs beautifully, from the grand entrance to the outdoor spaces and even the indoor staircases, which are perfect for classic, timeless portraits. Oheka truly feels like a stately, timeless castle, and it elevates every wedding by making the photos feel romantic, polished, and unforgettable. Here are some of our favorite shots:
We only ate at the OHK Restaurant, we did not stay overnight, but it was great. Service from Miguel was great ... he was very accommodating and certainly on top of everything without being annoying.? We were there for brunch. The little muffins were really good, obviously baked fresh. The smoked salmon was also really good with the addition of good presentation. And ... the crab cake was excellent! We had a great table overlooking the grounds. All in all, a very nice experience. Definitely recommend. As an added bonus, while walking around the castle admiring its beauty, we met Gary Melius, the owner of the castle. A very down to earth and pleasant man - we had a very nice chat.
We decided to Celebrate my daughter's birthday at the Oheka restaurant. First my family toured the historical rooms and outside ground. We proceeded to the restaurant and Gary Melius greeted us with a cheerful hello and stated, " welcome to my house." He asked where we were from and said a couple of jokes. Gary has such a genuine nature. The waitress was pleasant and attentive to our needs and provided a tasty dessert while everyone sang Happy Birthday. Gary returned and shared cake wth us. I will differently come back and enjoy the warm hospitality provided. Gary thank you for making us feel so welcomed in the Oheka Castle .
Unsafe, Unwelcoming, and Shockingly Unprofessional Our company booked a large block of rooms—over half the castle—for a retreat, and still received some of the worst service we’ve experienced anywhere. Check-in consisted solely of being handed keys. No tour, no explanation of amenities, no support with group activities, and the head of events who had offered us a guided tour simply canceled it with no explanation. The most troubling part of our stay was the behavior of security and even the owner, Gary. Multiple members of our team (all under 30 and non-white) were aggressively stopped and interrogated with “Why are you here?” despite staying overnight and wearing company apparel. It was deeply uncomfortable and discriminatory. My own room became a safety hazard. An animal was trapped in the chimney and trying to get into the room where my 6-month-old baby was sleeping. After multiple calls, maintenance removed one animal but failed to seal the chimney. When we returned after dinner, there was clearly another animal inside and the chimney had partially collapsed into the room. We had to grab our baby and run downstairs to request another room. The security guard helping us even jumped when the animal pushed through again—which says everything. Management never apologized. No compensation, not even acknowledgment. For the price point and reputation of Oheka Castle, the experience was shockingly bad. The entire castle felt empty and eerie, and staff—aside from the restaurant team—were rude, unhelpful, and in several cases blatantly discriminatory. The restaurant staff were the only redeeming part of the stay—excellent service and genuinely kind.
I went to Oheka Castle for lunch, and it was absolutely stunning! The castle itself is breathtaking—grand, elegant, and full of charm. The atmosphere made the experience feel so special and serene. The lunch was incredibly fresh and delicious, perfectly complementing the beautiful setting. The service was attentive and professional, adding to the overall wonderful experience. I will definitely be visiting again!

Hotel & banquet facility. Very ornate 6 star diamond rated. Exceptional for weddings. Great food. Great white glove service. See photos. Visit website. Full disclosure: I'm one of the cooks in the catering kitchen.
My husband and I stayed at the Oheka Castle in June 2025. It was such a wonderful experience. We enjoyed everything about it. We loved about the history of the castle and the people who started it. You can walk through the halls and look at the pictures of the place before it was taken over and restored. We enjoyed beverages at the hotel bar area. The first night we just enjoyed bites and they were very delicious. The second night we had dinner in their restaurant. The experience was outstanding! The service was very good and the food was fantastic! I highly recommend staying here if you have a chance. It's quite a bit off the beaten path, but that's a positive feature as far as I'm concerned. Be sure to tour the garden area also. It is beautiful!
