Chalet Inn and Suites offers a charming, slightly dated lodging experience in a scenic location near Long Island attractions. Guests consistently praise the friendly staff and comfortable rooms, particularly the thoughtfully decorated spaces with unique features like brick walls and a duck pond. However, some reviews highlight concerns about cleanliness and outdated amenities.
Such a charming little inn, really nice simple clean with a lovely pool and many different areas to lounge outside. Check in was quick and friendly. Great location as well, about 5 minutes away from center town with great shops and restaurants. Highly recommend
Beware! Maids constantly look in your windows. The owner said they are allowed. The rooms are misleading and small, they smell horrible and the bathroom was dirty. Come with a at biggest 30” tv that isn’t a smart tv not like you can see it anyway. Room doesn’t come with microwave, dishes, cups or utensils. Watch your head if your over 5’7” if not your gotta crack it on the brick getting into the room. They don’t take care of the grounds so the pretty pictures are a joke. Bring bug spray and tick repellent. Only an old front window the bather TINY window looks at a broken wooden fence. Needless to say we called the cops about the peeping maids (another guest said it happened to her) and we went to another place. Owner was rude but best of luck. Never again!! P.S. get some new toilets not ones for kindergarteners! A foot off the ground!
This is our second visit to Chalet inns. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. For this visit we splurged and took the king size suite with outdoor patio and view of their beautiful duck pond. Many ducks, birds, a swan, and a pair of mated eagles. Wonderful if you love to watch or film birds
If you are looking for an ultra modern, high tech place, this is not it. But if you want the perfect example of Long Island at its best, this is it. We have a standard king room. The room is well done...spacious, comfortable, quiet, nicely decorated, with a refrigerator. The wall behind the bed is real brick, the furniture (bed, dresser, night stands, table and chairs) is a dark wood. The current temperature is 4°(real feel -19°), VERY unusual for LI and we are warm and comfortable. There is a light breakfast available. But the BEST part is the people. The entire staff is wonderful - friendly, helpful, accommodating, knowledgeable. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy and satisfied. Even the other guests are great and friendly. So if you want a comfortable place with fantastic people, this is it.
2nd time staying at the Chalet, and even though I knew the rooms where very dated it is in a great location and the last time it was very clean. This time was very different than the first. This time the room was damp and cold, but it is winter and with such an old place that is to be expected. The mattresses really need to be replaced, most uncomfortable sleep ever! But the real issue for me was the bedding, the bedding was actually dirty. And it wasn't only the one bed, it was BOTH!!! We had a room with 2 queen beds) The first thing I do when I go to a hotel is check the bedding. I work at one so I know exactly where to look for housekeeping shortcuts. This was totally unacceptable! Luckily I am a bit of a clean freak and always bring along my own set of sheets just in case. My husband always laughs at me for it, but not this time! lol I did make the front desk aware, they didn't offer anything because of the inconvenience, which is okay, but hopefully they will address the issue with housekeeping.
I loved this place, the view was amazing, the staff were great, they had snacks for breakfast, tea and coffee were available, the price was reasonable, it will satisfy you if you are not looking for luxury. The rooms were from the 80s, clean and the beds were comfortable. They could just replace the TVs inside because the TV was old and not working, otherwise everything was great.
Old fashioned motel with doors opening to the outdoors. Surprisingly comfortable beds and very clean. Morning coffee with local poet and historian James is worth the price of admission. What a gentleman. His friendliness is infectious. I visited with several guests which doesn’t happen a lot. Coffee was tasty and real half and half. Toast your own croissants and smear some real butter and I’m good to go.
Nice old school motel/hotel. Clean rooms and funky vibe. There were some drunk people making a lot of noise outside of our room at 2 am which freaked me out a little but no fault of the hotel I suppose. No in-room coffee and the front desk doesn’t open until 8:30 so if you’re an early riser like myself, you gotta plan for coffee elsewhere.
My husband and I booked a room last night at 9 p.m. James had specifically assured my husband that if we were unsure about our ability to make it there, there would be no cancellation fee. However, we called again to inform them that we are still on the road and that the trip would exceed 15 hours. We are uncertain whether we can stay tonight, and it would have to be tomorrow upon our arrival. Now, they are claiming that we cannot get our money back because it was not 48 hours in advance. I find this situation quite ridiculous. The Asian/Chinese lady was very rude !!
This facility is in a beautiful location, very scenic. It’s not ultra modern, which I like, and it’s very clean and accommodating! Management staff are friendly and caring!
