Recent guest reviews paint a consistently negative picture of the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, highlighting severe issues with customer service, cleanliness, and property condition. Recurring complaints include aggressive staff behavior, unresolved maintenance problems, mold infestations, and misrepresented room conditions, suggesting a significant decline in quality and reliability.
I had to leave early due to the fact that this place gave me breathing issues in the middle of the night. Mold, hair from previous guests on the toilet and bathrooms. Smells awful. And they refunded me and then took my money back out of my account and I’m still fighting with my bank for it. I filed a complaint with the front desk. They gave me the run around and I still do not have my money back. Please be careful checking into this place. It’s awful!
Room was nice, old TV, phone did not work. Comfy beds, nice size bathroom had a tub. Clean nice amount of little things like lotion and a coffee lot along with fridge and microwave. All for a less than 100 dollar room. No free breakfast though. In believe they have a breakfast buffet for 8 or 9 dollars though. Staff was very nice and genuine as well.
We got stuck in a snowstorm and unfortunately this was the nearest hotel available. The front desk service was extremely poor - even for the low price, the stay felt expensive given the experience. The staff were rude and showed no care for customers or the business itself. At one point, when I expressed concerns, they told me I didn’t have to stay there. Because of the snowstorm, I didn’t want to keep driving, so I told them I would take the room but write a negative review. The front desk employee said that didn’t affect him - he clearly didn’t care about the business. This is the type of establishment that doesn’t rely on repeat customers, so service quality doesn’t seem to matter to them. They get by on location and price alone. I believe it’s close to the airport. Once we got to our room, people in the next room were banging on the walls and slamming the door constantly throughout the night. Who knows what was going on there. When I called the front desk to complain, they told me to call 911. This response made me realize the hotel must have serious ongoing issues. The whole experience was unsettling and felt unsafe. If you can avoid this hotel, I highly recommend skipping it. While the infrastructure seems okay, it’s not worth the hassle, even in an emergency situation.
Jen at front desk snarky and not welcoming after long trip with no reservation. Jen was threatening us with more fees if we didnt comply and abide by her instructions. .plus place was under renovation. Very unwelcoming and must been in rotten mood but wife and i do not reccommend ever! The lady jen was acting revengeful and evil and normally i wouldnt bother but she dont belong running a business of any kind. You ruined our day - cost us a lot of time and gladly took our money but meanly refused to give it back after hated room
We are currently on our first night of a week-long stay at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center by MacArthur Airport, and unfortunately our check-in experience was extremely upsetting and unprofessional. I am a disabled veteran, and accessible accommodations are not optional for me. When we first arrived early, a very kind female staff member tried to find us a room but said the only one available at that time was on the second floor. The hotel does not have an elevator, so we agreed to wait until regular check-in time in hopes of getting a suitable room. When we returned around 7:30 pm to check in, the experience with the front desk male employee was completely different. There was an issue with the card reader timing out. Instead of calmly helping resolve it, he became visibly annoyed and raised his voice, telling me to “swipe it this time” and correcting how I held the card in a way that was embarrassing in front of my guest. During this process, a misunderstanding arose about his name. He introduced himself in a way that led me to repeat it back exactly as he had said it. When I did, he suddenly accused me of mocking him and escalated the situation. At no point did I curse, insult, or try to argue. I simply repeated what he had told me his name was and tried to explain that. What happened next was especially disturbing: instead of handling the misunderstanding professionally, he told us we could not stay there, even though our reservation was already made and paid for, and this is our booked lodging for the entire week. He then demanded a 100.00 security deposit in a rude and confrontational tone, making us feel as though our stay could be taken away at any moment over something he himself had initiated. This was not just uncomfortable; it felt like he was using his position at the front desk, and the fact that we were already committed to a week-long stay, to pressure and intimidate us. As a disabled veteran traveling with a guest, being spoken to that way and having our stay threatened over a misunderstanding about his own introduction was shocking and humiliating. To be clear: • The first staff member we encountered earlier in the day was excellent – polite, helpful, and compassionate about the accessibility issue. • The problem is with this specific front desk employee’s conduct, attitude, and the way he escalated an avoidable situation and tried to deny us the stay we had already booked and paid for. We are still currently staying at this hotel and are scheduled to be here for the week. Management should be able to review the security camera footage from the front desk at around 7:30 pm to see exactly how this interaction unfolded. This review is being posted so that management is fully aware of what happened, especially in light of any past or future complaints. At a minimum, this needs to be addressed with proper training on professionalism, de-escalation, and how to treat disabled guests with respect.
NO STAR rating. Do not think of staying at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center in Ronkonkoma, N.Y. The property is terribly flood damaged. Who knows what mold and poor air quality could affect anyone who stays there. The photos on the website are not up to date. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING. (We stayed in this hotel 10/10/25 and 10/11/25) What you will see is: broken tiles, dirty, rumpled carpeting (flood damaged-not replaced), flood damage line about 18 inches high throughout hallways was just painted over, a bathroom ceiling that is unfinished, and in summary the place should be condemned. I wonder if Choice Hotels has done an inspection within the past year. PRICE GOUGING. We were charged 2 1/2 times the rate and due to having a family emergency had no other place to go. When I spoke with a front desk person about getting a partial refund he refused to connect me to the manager or to take my information, then he hung up on me. I had informed him that I had spoken with Choice Hotels on six occasions about this stay. I called back and told him that I was recording our conversation and he again hung up on me. This is highway robbery for overcharging people, misrepresenting the establishment, and more. It's a shock that Choice Hotels are not guaranteeing the quality of each franchise nor are they concerned with their customers. I will be contacting my credit card and stopping payment. It was easier for the person at the front desk to hang up on me than to acknowledge my legitimate complaint and to connect me with the manager, "Sam".
Unfortunately we'll never stay at this place again I guess you pay for what you get that goes with the front desk staff very rude and unfriendly her name is Jander arguing about early check-in fee which I thought was ridiculous $50 to check-in an hour early Definitely was not a good first time experience for somebody that will stay at hotels 3 times a week Sounds to me like they lost about $15,000 and judging by the place I don't know how they could afford to lose customers that would spend this kind of money throughout the year When you're the customer you're right no matter what I'm in business too and when customers argue with me and I'm right I just ignore it So unfortunately they lost me as a customer due to the front desk rudeness sincerely Chris. now I see why the have 2.7 stars to many negative reviews wish I would of read first.
Do not be fooled like I was. I booked this hotel from Expedia after seeing a bunch of recent 10/10 reviews and there is zero doubt in my mind those are fake reviews. This place is more than run down, it is decrepit. I checked out in 17 minutes as soon as I found another hotel. The pictures you see online have to be years old. It is dirty, smells of mildew, and looks abandoned. I will be contacting Expedia to report the false pictures and reviews and fighting any room charges with my credit card company.
I’m extremely disappointed with the customer service, lack of care, and the condition of the rooms. I checked in on Saturday and my room (111) had mold in the shower. I report the issue to the front desk (Andreas, the Spanish guy in the front), and he told me to hand over my ID, then issued me a new room without guying me the room number. Her told me my room was in the back (room 150) without providing me instructions on how to get there. I moved my belongings into room 150, only to find out the AC doesn’t work. The maintenance guy came, doesn’t speak English, and he starts yanking at the wire. The AC was turning off and on because there is clearly a shortage. The rooms they assign to guest need to be inspected!!
I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The room I was given was absolutely disgusting and infested with cockroaches. There were smashed roaches on the walls and floors, roaches crawling in the bed, and they were literally all over the entire room. Unfortunately, some even got into my luggage and came home with me. When I went to the staff to explain the situation, they were extremely rude and dismissive. They showed no concern whatsoever and refused to issue me a refund, even though I had to leave immediately because the conditions were unbearable. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through it. Stay far away from this place.
