The Courtyard Islip Courthouse Complex receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its convenient location and friendly staff. However, recurring concerns include inconsistent follow-through on guest requests, noisy rooms with thin walls, and issues with room cleanliness and functionality, such as malfunctioning equipment and stained furnishings. Recent experiences have highlighted problems with overbooking and a lack of responsiveness from staff.
We had a very pleasant stay at Courtyard by Marriott Long Island Islip/Courthouse Complex. The hotel was clean, modern, and well maintained, and the staff was generally friendly and professional throughout our visit. The rooms were comfortable, and the location was very convenient for our trip. My only complaint was regarding a simple request that unfortunately was never fulfilled. My wife asked the front desk for an ironing board early during our stay, and despite the request, we never received one during the entire visit. It was disappointing because everything else about the stay was very good. Overall, we still enjoyed our experience and would consider staying again, but I hope the hotel improves its follow-through on guest requests in the future.
Updated June 5, 2026: 3 stars I called again during the day to ask about my missing earrings, and Yancey at the front desk was very helpful! She found the earrings in the lost and found and told me what to do to have them shipped to me. Kudos to the housekeeping staff for finding them, and kudos to Yancey for helping get them back to me! Original review: 1 star As a Marriott Platinum Elite member we stay at Marriotts all over the world. The Islip Courthouse Courtyard is in a really nice location, on a quiet side street close to a lot of amenities. But this is by far the worst Marriott we’ve ever stayed in. We had a king room on the 4th (top) floor which looked nice upon initial entry, but after staying there for 5 nights we ended up having quite a few issues, only some of which were brought up with hotel staff and only a few of which were resolved: 1) The in-shower body wash dispenser pump was stuck in the down position and was inoperable. I tried to unscrew it and open it but it would not unscrew. I notified the front desk that and it was repaired/replaced that day, which was appreciated. Thank you. 2) We ran out of Kleenex on the first night. I called the front desk around 10pm to ask for some to be sent up, and was told no, because there was no one who could leave the front desk and bring some. The front desk clerk also said I could get some in the morning, then hung up on me. This is unacceptable service from a Marriott. I did ask in the morning (when I also asked for the body wash dispenser to be repaired); a new box of Kleenex was delivered to the room but not put in the holder upon our return to the hotel at the end of the day. This was acceptable service but not the quality of service I expect from a Marriott. 3) The carpet, couch, and shower were significantly stained. This looks gross and made me question the overall cleanliness of the room. 4) The window’s curtain rod was broken so the sheer curtain flopped down at the end when we wanted it closed. Luckily the blackout curtain rod was in working order, but there was no way to use the sheer curtain during the day other than having it at least halfway open. 5) The sink and shower water pressure were excessively low. When I tried to adjust the sink water flow the nozzle fell off in my hand. The pressure in the shower is adjustable at the shower head, but the only settings were “wide spray” which doesn’t work when washing long or thick hair, or “narrow spray”, which should have had more pressure but was a straggly little stream that wasn’t very functional. 6) The hotel is NOISY. I don’t mind small kids making some noise before bedtime and in the morning, and I understand people who come and go from their rooms at odd times don’t necessarily care if they bang their room doors shut. But the general noise level was terrible; normal conversations in adjacent rooms sounded like they were amplified. There is no sound dampening at all in this hotel. 7) Here’s the big thing. I forgot a pair of earrings on the bedside table. Yes, I recognize this is my own fault and I cannot hold the hotel responsible for it. But - when I called in the evening after we checked out, the young man at the front desk was super rude, said there’s no housekeeping available, and that I should call back tomorrow to ask if anyone turned them in. Then he hung up on me. No offer to check lost and found for me, no offer to take my name and number and have housekeeping call me tomorrow, no information about whether the room was occupied or if someone could check for me. I know exactly where I placed the earrings - they aren’t lost, they are left behind, and I could direct someone to them in the room if anyone was there to help me. I doubt I’ll get the earrings back, which is my own fault, but the point here is that the staff did nothing to try to help me get them even though I know exactly where they are. In summary, I would not recommend this Marriott. Although the daytime front desk staff was pleasant and helpful enough, the nighttime staff was rude, abrupt, unhelpful, and hung up on me twice.
And loved everything about this hotel. From every staff member at the front desk, check in to check out, who gave excellent service and were pleasant, to the housekeepers who were very friendly, and keep the place nice and clean with a smile on their face... To the restaurant service which was also very good and with tasty food and serving good coffee. Rooms are updated and clean. Price was excellent to have all these amenities at this particular location. Thanks to all the staff who made my stay a pleasure during a difficult time. You are appreciated. See you next time!
I LOVE this hotel! It is beautiful inside and out! The bathrooms are bright and modern. The staff is friendly and believes in true customer service. Breakfast is a separate charge, but I enjoyed the French toast with blueberries. I can't wait to come back when I'm in the area again.
Booked a conference room for family Christmas gathering. This is the 5th year in a row we have booked this room. This year, Courtyard decided to let an employee of Marriott have the room during our scheduled reservation. Sure. Mistakes happen. The offered alternative was a room 1/2 the size. Can't do that. Guess our party of 40 can find another place to gather. Wasted time. Wasted gas. I guess they do reservations the old fashioned way. Too bad.
Came into town unexpectedly and was met by an extremely accommodating staff. The lobby restaurant opened at 5p and the bar/waitstaff was exceptionally good. My food was phenomenal and truly caught me by surprise. 10/10 would stay here again. We adored our experience. Thank you Islip Courtyard Marriot.
**BEDBUGS AND ROACHES** 10/27/25 - I checked into my (1) king bed with sofa bed room without any issues. Upon entering my room I received a phone call so I was a bit distracted and didn’t check all corners of the mattress like I usually do. I sat on the bed for probably 10 minutes before I saw the bedbug crawling by the pillows. I immediately asked for a room change and the front desk girl was very nice and promptly got me a new room. She also gave me quarters to wash the clothes I was wearing. She did say that the manager would be calling me but no one ever contacted me. 10/30/25 - today, I got back into my room after work and as I was eating dinner I saw a cockroach crawling across the room. I gathered all my things, I could no longer stay here and had to contact my company management to rebook a room. This time, the front desk staff seemed extremely uncaring as if this sort of this happened all the time. I would not recommend staying here unless you want to bring home bedbugs and roaches.
Clean rooms and friendly staff I recently stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Central Islip and wanted to share my experience. My room was very clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Everything seemed well-maintained and modern. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and very helpful. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. I used the Wi-Fi and the gym, and found both to be excellent and convenient. The location was perfect for my trip and very convenient for getting around. Overall, I had a great stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others visiting the area.
It’s a 3 star so I guess you can’t expect much. Not a lot of other Marriott choices in this area so one is almost forced to stay here. However, after my last experience, I will not return. I would rather stay farther out. For a confirmed reservation in September, I arrived at the property after traveling for over 8 hours. To my disappointment, I was informed at check-in that the hotel was overbooked. While an alternate option was offered, I should have been notified in advance rather than finding out only upon arrival. What made the situation worse was the lack of sympathy from the staff—no sincere apology or acknowledgment of the stress and inconvenience caused. And the audacity to mention rates at the sister hotel would be same - like my stress in the moment has anything to do with the rate. After hours of travel, being told “no rooms are available” despite a confirmed booking is unacceptable. Marriott is in the business of hospitality and should do better with situations like this.
I called a few weeks ago to book my reservation for 2 nights. 3 days later I called to add another night and was told they updated my reservation. When we got here they said our reservation was for the next day. I told them I called to extend. They did accommodate. We reserved a king room. The bed is not a king bed. It's also uncomfortable and lumpy. The walls are super thin. I was able to hear my neighbors entire conversation word for word. They stayed up all night partying, which meant we got zero sleep. The refrigerator is so tiny you can fit only 2 large drinks. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful. No free breakfast at all. But the employees were very nice and friendly.
