Danfords Hotel & Marina receives mixed reviews, with highlights including a convenient location and beautiful event spaces. However, concerns regarding noise levels, food quality, and cleanliness issues, particularly with damp carpets and infestations, are frequently cited. Overall, the recent negative experiences overshadow the positive feedback.
The room was a nice king size with a fireplace. I loved that it had a balcony that looked at the water and ferry area. The fireplace is large and great to be able to use a real log. The only downfall is you can hear a lot of noise upstairs but I would definitely come again!
My wife and I took a one day getaway and decided to stay at this hotel. It was on one of the coldest days. I can remember where the real feels were down to 15 below. Such a nice stay and the rooms were super nice, comfortable and clean. The restaurant was all so very fantastic and had a great menu where both my wife and I could find items we liked. The staff was so courteous in the dining room and in the hotel. Because it was an exceptionally cold night, the original room we got was quite cool and when I called the front desk they immediately came up, moved us to a different room that did not face the ocean and we were absolutely fine. We definitely will be coming back here and we truly appreciated this wonderful hotel
A reasonable person would assume a Waterview room would not mean a strip of water over the filthy parking lot. I’ve been staying here for years and have never been so disappointed in my stay or with the service when I asked for it to be rectified. It won’t happen again.
Loved staying at Dansford! Stayed 2 nights with 3 other friends and it was perfect! The views, location (walkable to MANY food/drink/shopping options), room comfort and cleanliness were all top tier!
I am currently staying at Danfords to enjoy the Dickens festival without having to drive home. It’s a nightmare. Wedding going on and the band might as well be in the room So noisy you can’t even think. I came to relax and feel like I’m going to have a heart attack from the noise. I cannot recommend this hotel. They really need to reevaluate the name “spa” I planned on staying 2 days but will check out in am - ruined weekend
We planned a.lovely Thanksgiving dinner family reunion, with everyone driving from out of state. It’s unfortunate that I cannot give this establishment any rating for the experience. There was a price fixed menu, that was not inexpensive. We were seated at the Black Pearl room across from the main restaurant, since the food was carted outside to bring to the room where we were seated all the food was cold and the turkey dinners were not sliced pieces of turkey but leftovers they had pulled together with cartilage and bones on one of our plates. The best part of our dinner was the wait staff - our waitress couldn’t be more sweet and apologetic. She brought the Manager to our table so we could express our concerns. We were told by the Manager. “Since the food is not to our liking he would take everything back”. We told him. This is not a case of “ not to our liking”. The food was inedible!!! We were not offered anything else as a substitute. Suffice to say it was a ruined Hoilday gathering and it was very hard for any of us to believe that this restaurant could not offer up a burger or anything else as a substitute except a Manager with a terrible demeanor for dealing with customers and a bad experience SHAMEFUL. Would never recommend this place to anyone
We got married here on 10/11/25 and couldn't have asked for a more perfect day or experience with Danford's and Black Pearl Catering staff! We were treated like a king and queen. This is a beautiful venue for a wedding, with the ferry and boats in the background if you do a waterfront ceremony like we did. The staff, especially our wedding coordinators Annmarie and Elyse, paid exceptional attention to detail and assisted us along the way in every step from booking up to our wedding day. The food was delicious and the staff friendly and professional. We never saw such a happy, smiling staff anywhere before. They were just incredible. We stayed the night and our room was beautiful, clean, spacious with a comfortable bed and a water view. The perfect wedding day and night!
A friend and I had a two nights stay at Danfords from Sept 23rd to 25th. We were very disappointed in our room, specifically the carpet outside of the bathroom was soaking wet. I reported this to reception, but as it was after 9:00 pm when we arrived to our room there was no one from engineering that could be sent to look at it. We were also advised that there was no other comparable room we could move to. At 7:45 am Wed morning someone attempted to enter the room. When we asked who it was we were told engineering. We were still in bed and asked that they come back later. When we arrived back to the room in the afternoon the carpet was still soaking. We were not notified what if any action was taken. The carpet remained wet during our entire stay. The dampness in the room was terrible and there were a few gnats. Besides being unpleasant, this is a very unhealthy environment. In addition, we dined at the Black Pearl bar on Tues night and it was infested with fruit flies. While we were advised that is under separate ownership, it does fall under Danfords and is listed on it's website. We spent over $900 on a two nights stay and $200 more at the Black Pearl and it was an incredibly disappointing experience. I reached out to management via the email address provided by the front desk and no one has replied after several days. I also provided this information in the survey that was emailed to me and also no response. While the location is very convenient, that is the only positive comment I can make about Danfords.
Great location, right of the ferry walking distance to most restaurants. The room was a good size. The bathroom floor tiles looked that they need some repairs it had missing grout.... overall it was nice and clean. I would stay here again.
Best hotel you will find in town. Sleepy little marina with a ferry next door - the fog horn gives the place some personality ;) Rooms were extremely clean & large, staff very friendly & communicative. We had an issue with the shower and it was promptly fixed and working better than before by the time we returned from coffee.
