Would love to be able to write a good review, but unfortunately after ignoring our phone calls during a medical emergency to request a reschedule on our booking, they proceeded to charge us for the room ON TOP of a deposit we already paid. They did not answer phone calls, texted from a random number 8 hours later and then never replied, same with email. It was my birthday! We just wanted to reschedule and have all the medical documentation to prove the emergency. Horrible way to treat customers going through a tough time. They took our money, ignored our attempts at contact, and we still have not heard back from them via email, text or call.

Amazing place, great bar and rooms were clean and comfortable. Pillows on the bed were amazing, I have never had a better night sleep in a bed that wasn’t my own!! The ladies at the front desk were so sweet and accommodating, they actually upgraded us for free. There was a pool and a nice patio in the back (that we discovered as we were leaving!). We stopped by the bar both nights we stayed there and had the best French fries - super thin and crispy. Ended up chatting with a few friendly locals who made the hotel even more charming…always a good sign when you know it’s a regular spot!! ? all and all, can’t speak highly enough about this charming inn.

A magnificent experience! Thank you, Suzanne, and to all your staff for making this a memorable stay for my wife’s birthday. The Osprey suite was the most luxurious room that I’ve seen anywhere on Shelter Island.

We recently stayed in a deluxe king room, and it was wonderful - the Inn is meticulously clean and makes for a great home base for a stay on Shelter Island. We enjoyed the plush robes, relaxing pool, and complimentary coffee. The staff was attentive and pleasant, and the bar at Chez Marie was a cozy spot for a pre-dinner cocktail. The location was ideal, and we can't wait to return and use the bikes next time.

Beth was an amazing host — warm, welcoming, and attentive. The pool is absolutely stunning and hands-down the biggest feature of the house. Just note that it’s not heated until late May. Shelter Island itself is a peaceful escape from reality — serene, charming, and the perfect place to unwind. The only issue we had was with the bed — there was something tiny in the sheets (maybe lint or particles) that made it a bit hard to sleep. But overall, we had a fantastic stay and would absolutely come back again.

Shelter Island House is a wonderful establishment. The resort was conveniently located. Sunset Beach just minutes away walking distance. The resort's grounds very welcoming. The pool area was very relaxing. We also enjoyed the outdoor setting areas, especially with a nice glass of wine! Our room was clean and very comfortable. However, I should say the back outdoor lights kept me up a good part of the night. Maybe the next time I would bring eye mask covers. On the other hand, the staff was very attentive, accommodating, and friendly. The breakfast was light but pleasant. My husband and I would definitely return.
