The Shorewood Inn offers a clean and welcoming experience for budget travelers, with owners who are described as attentive and helpful. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues regarding cleanliness, security threats, and systemic staff hostility, making it a high-risk choice.
I am 56 YO and I have a disability and receive a SSI check. I am also a DV & a rape survivor. I borrowed money and checked into this Inn on 2.22.06. The price was reasonable. At first I booked for 3 days from 2.22.26 to 2.25.26 then when I tried to add 2 more days I couldn't, so I booked another reservation from 2.25.26 to 2.27.26. On arrival the manager linked the two booking so that I didnt have to switch rooms. The day after the storm we had about 14 inches of snow on the ground by the door, but the brush wind accumulated about 4 ft of snow covering the entire parking lot. About a few hours later I heard plowing. When I looked outside the manager had one of the little plows you use to clear snow off of the sidewalk. About an hour later after I called and asked about being stuck inside the hotel later on the property was cleared. The following day after the storm I left the compound and when I got back I went straight to the office to get towels and garbage bags. The man had an attitude because I told him I wasn't sure if I was to ask the housekeeper for towels or come to the office. He said to me in a condecending tone we are not animals you could have asked us for towels. I explained to him that because he was a smaller motel, I wasn't sure if I could ask the house-keeper who didnt have any supplies or come to the office. On opening my door I realised someone came in my room because I smelled disinfectant. I was confused because if he knew the housekeeper came into my room and replace the towels and garbage bags, why didnt he just say so when I asked him for towels. Mind you I didnt request room service I also mentioned to the manager I was a germaphobe when checking in. I told him I like to give the room a once over where ever I was staying even if its visible clean. The following day I woke up and I heard a noise at my door. I made sure the do not disturb sign was at my door . It sounded like someone was about to open my door. I said hello can I help whoever at my door. When I opened the door the house-keeper was at my door just standing there. I also notice the manager standing directly behind her on the porch which was odd. The house-keeper apologized and I threw away trash. I had to run errands and when I got back around 4 pm. I met the manager we both entered the property at the same time. He ran out his car and was hurrying toward the office. I walked toward my room and swipe my key card and it was on red and I couldn't get into my room. I stood there for about 5 minutes in the cold. Mind you the manager had a view accross the parking lot where my room was. When I realized he wasnt coming to let me in the room, I called him on the phone. I said 'Sir I can't get into my room please come open my door because I am not walking to the office.' I waited another 10 minutes and then I called the police. I wasnt sure why I couldnt enter my room that I paid for that had my property or why the manager had me waiting in the cold. About 7 mins after I called the police the manager was walking toward me. I informed him that I had call the police and instead of him letting me into my room and me cancelling the call. He kissed his teeth and turned back and left me standing outside my door in the cold. I waited about another 20 mins in the cold until the cops arrived. I dont know what he told the police but the cops came out and he was still in the office. I told the cops I was checking out and to ask for a refund and he told me the manager wasnt giving me a refund. It wasn't until I told the cops my property was in the room that he went back inside and this was when the manager gave the police the keycard to my room and I packed and left. I ended up taking the bus to riverheard and taking an uber to another hotel where I spend the night. I still dont know why this Manager did what he did but he did it on spite for sure. This was my second time staying at the inn. THIS IS MY TRUE HONEST EXPERIENCE WHILE STAYING AT THIS PLACE IN JAMESPORT NY
Expensive room and not clean ! Flies in the room, dusty, hair in the shower. Left my speaker called immediately after I checked out to get it back and “it was not there.” Absolutely terrible experience. I will delete this review if they give me my speaker back.
Our room was clean, well appointed and recently updated. The microwave and mini fridge made the stay much more convenient and affordable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good but the coffee was outstanding. Definitely my first choice next time I visit Long Island.
front desk concierge was excellent, check in was easy and room was cleaned after the first night. unfortunately i ended up having to leave after my first night due to the noise. the walls are paper thin and you can hear every word spoken in the room next to you. the shared wifi was not secure and i have been getting numerous hacking attempts for multiple accounts. wouldn't stay again but the location was great. very cute town.
Excellent value for the area! Clean, cute, quiet rooms. Friendly staff. This IS a budget motel, don't expect five star service and amenities. But it's a perfectly pleasant place to stay for a North fork getaway. Would definitely stay again.
I recently stayed at the Shorewood Inn in South Jamesport, Long Island, and I absolutely loved my time there. Jae, the owner, was incredibly helpful and welcoming. The inn itself was spotless and, while not overly spacious, it was comfortable and accommodated all our needs. One of the best parts was how conveniently located everything was—the beach and local eateries were all within a five-minute radius, making it super convenient. The beach being just four minutes away was a dream! I also really enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. The staff went above and beyond by mailing back my daughter's glasses that she accidentally left behind. Overall, the staff was wonderful, and the experience was delightful. I will definitely be returning!
Not the Ritz Carlton. But if you’re looking for a Clean comfortable and affordable stay, look no further. The owners of this Inn maintain it like a home. Fast friendly service, yummy treats, and very clean rooms. If I ever travel through again I will certainly stay here.
