This motel has a charming, historic feel with recent renovations and complimentary amenities like bikes and cookies. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues with reservation cancellations and inflexible policies, leading to a notably negative guest experience. Despite some positive comments about the owner and location, reliability and customer service concerns are prevalent.
I did reserve and pay for a one night stay (by using the hotel´s homepage). Given high season I paid a high price (four figures). By doing so I accepted rather harsh cancellation conditions (one night at least, so in my case I would get no money back). Then the hotel cancelled my reservation without contacting me before. They claim they made an error and during that time a 3 night minimum stay would apply. The hotel´s email was borderline rude. And given that this did not qualify as an error fare, the hotel had no right to cancel my reservation. Just imagine I would have tried to cancel my reservation - that would not have been possible given the booking conditions. The hotel charges a mandatory 3% credit card charge. In addition, I did incur international credit card fees in. The hotel refuses to refund these fees. Just imagine the other way around - would the hotel refund the credit card charges in case a customer cancels? Certainly not. Furthermore, the hotel initially tried to ghost me. They only replied after a second email of mine. This is the least customer friendly hotel I have ever experienced in the USA. Do NOT book this hotel. They believe rules only apply to customers, not to themselves.
My husband and I stayed here for the first time earlier this month and we had an incredible time. Diane was super welcoming and she's running a wonderful operation with care and enthusiasm. The bikes are epic and so are the treats in the room. Tate's cookies, Malin+Goetz in the bath/shower and freshly renovated, super clean, comfortable rooms. We can't wait to come back. Location is also A+++++!!!! Thanks you Diane and team!
Come here every summer for a weekend or 2 or 3.. Perfect place to stay in Hamptons. 20 minute walk to beach, 3 minute drive. 10 minute walk to town, 1 minute drive. They provide beach passes The beautiful lawn has tables and chairs to eat, read and relax. Spotlessly clean.rooms. Thomas the manager is over the top.
We recently stayed at the Southampton Village Motel for the second time and loved it equally, if not more than the first time. It provides a cozy respite from city life; a 10 minute bike ride to the beach (bikes and towels included!). The owner of the motel, Thomas, is an excellent host and a true gentleman. Always full of stories, he went above and beyond to accommodate us (even going out of his way to purchase an adapter for my mother who was visiting from outside the country). We highly recommend this place for your next beach escape!!!
Very very quaint former roadside motel now a chic motel with immaculate rooms and complimentary bicycles as Southampton is only four books away. Wonderful Tate's chocolate chip cookies in the room's complimentary basket... but, alas, not for our second night. For a two-night stay, I'm expecting the cookies the second night too. Especially for $370/night. Welcome to The Hamptons.
