The Hilton Garden Inn Islip/MacArthur Airport has mixed reviews, with significant concerns regarding cleanliness, staffing issues, and reservation errors. While some guests appreciate the helpfulness of certain staff members and the hotel’s location, recurring problems with room conditions, breakfast quality, and unresolved booking issues raise serious concerns about the overall experience.

Hotel was fine. Trixie the restaurant manager needs to learn some manners. She was drinking HEAVILY on the job. From what we heard from other employers is she’s a HUGE issue with a power trip

Absolutely not a 4 star hotel, walls were peeling and thermostat didn’t work. Heat or air stayed on nonstop even after set temp was reached, front desk told is to just turn it on and off. Part of a wedding block, some of our rooms came with breakfast vouchers some didn’t, absolutely no rhyme or reason and it wasn't explained by the desk at all and they didn't inform some guest until after they went thru the buffet it wasn't included and they now owed $18.99 for a reheated buffett. We all booked together, same price same everything, turns out front desk forgets sometimes to hand out voucher sometimes and you need to talk to the original person who check you in to make sure you didn't actually get your voucher and lose it or give it to someone else. Crazy, unprofessional rude staff that have no idea what's going on and bicker between front desk and restaurant. They lady doing breakfast just kept repeating "I'm just having a bad day" to each guest she served. Bride and groom had welcome bags for each room, half of the party didn't get the gift, were did they go? Parking in the mostly empty lot is not included, a QR code is posted several places around the lot, not every spot, so could be missed, and again the front desk doesn't tell you that you'll need to scan the code an pay $10 per DAY for parking or be towed...its not the city, plenty of parking and since it's in an industrial area nobody else is trying to park there and sightsee. NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL

I would not recommend this hotel. Recent stay on 12/8/25 front desk check in Asian girl very unfriendly didn’t seem to know what she was doing. Hotel very outdated. Room was terrible white bedspreads looked filthy. Asked front desk to assist as air conditioner would not turn down and room was freezing so maintenance shut off completely leaving no air flow in room. The mattress are old and you sink in from many uses.. just plain terrible don’t stay here!!!

Room wasn’t very clean. Looks like it hadn’t been vacuumed since there was visible items on the floor. Shower floor also had an item on it which I removed with a tissue. The refrigerator had food in it when we arrived. Lastly when going to bed there was a small foreign piece under the covers which we brushed off. Stai in Hiltons all the time. Very disappointed!!!

After skipping using this hotel for a year due to the lack of customer service, I decided to try it again. Parking lot? Clean and ample Front desk- helpful, professional and courteous. Room - clean and decently outfitted. Dinner at the bar? As i type this, the heart palpitations are real. They took my order for a medium rare, and decided to not only skip the medium portion of said request, but to put as much salt on it as the roadcrew would use in a blizzard. One bite and my cardiologist called me to thank me for preparing to put his kids through college. Wild animals wouldn't trade me their salt block for my burger, because it was too salty for them. A burger made of Lots' wife apparently, and then generous dipped in a dredge of salted salt. That mistake won't be repeated.

Hotel was well loved. The rooms were clean and fresh. The beds were OK, but not the greatest or best I have been on. Well loved is a nice way to say it. The staff were very friendly. Our last two days only one of the two elevators were operational. The paid breakfast is no better than any “free” breakfast anywhere similar. Three location was perfect for my needs. Prices are crazy, but understandable for the area.

Bathroom was dirty where black dark substance was lying on the ground. Also, Bathroom floor water exit was choked which used to make the floor filled with water. Breakfast, specially bagels and juice were of very low quality. People were skipping breakfast and now I understand why. I had to go to Starbucks to have a cup of coffee and bagel. And Next day, I just skipped the breakfast even after paying for it. Also, rooms were supposed to be cleaned every day, I didn't see that happening with my room atleast. Had I been knowing of these in reviews, I would have choosen another hilton or Marriott even a little farther.

UPDATE: They did it again! Got another reservation confirmation today. Took two more phone calls and 5 different people to hopefully get this corrected for good. The amount of incompetence is unbelievable. Everyone wants to pass the blame to someone else. 26Sep25: They keep booking a room under my name. I have never booked a reservation with this hotel yet this is the second time they made a reservation in my name. The first time was a (edited) almost 2 months ago (but for the same date). I spoke to 5 different people from Hilton about the first reservation including 2 from the hotel itself. The hotel mentioned a name that was not me so it seems like they knew who actually reserved the hotel. They said it was a mistake yet they reserved another room in my name with my email address today. I would be careful trusting this hotel.

Shoutouts to Lyndia as well as Ellen and Keiahna. I arrived very late after my work shift past midnight and Lyndia was able to get a room for me. She spent some time to make sure I could still get a room for the night. She also escorted me to the room to let me in. She was so patient. Ellen also answered my questions about the texts I received from the customer service. Ellen was making me smile saying she learned new things today. Keiahna also talked with me as well. She said a compliment about what my family calls our pets. Unfortunately, I had to check out early to bring my dog to the vet first thing in the morning. But Ellen and Keiahna were very understanding. They even let me process and vent about my anxiety with my dog. They were so sweet to talk with me and even be lighthearted and sweet. I’ve stayed here before and look forward to staying here again. Thank you, Lyndia, Ellen, and Keiahna

So i came in at 3AM thinking I had a room ready to finally get some rest after a day of traveling. Wrong, Reservations apparently doesnt work well with the actual hotel system. I had to search for another room because the front desk worker was like not my problem. If I didnt have the rest of my stay booked here for work purposes, I would've taken my business elsewhere. After this first day, there was a child next to my room who was having issues with parent at 9-11 multiple times during my stay. Called front desk, sorry we cant do anything about it. I was asking for them to check on the child. My room key was not working for 5-6 nights out of 8, multiple trips down to front desk. Window curtain decided to just fall off and that was taped together. Pretty rough stay for 342 dollars a night.
