The Hilton Garden Inn Islip/MacArthur Airport receives mixed reviews, with recent positive feedback highlighting exceptional front desk staff and food quality. However, a significant number of recent reviews detail serious issues including unsanitary room conditions, staffing errors, and unresponsive management, particularly concerning wedding room blocks. Concerns regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service significantly impact the overall guest experience.
I have to give it to Taylor! She has been incredible throughout this entire journey. We have quite a large wedding with quite a few parts especially with the hotel and she is on top of it all. She is super responsive via email and unbelievably helpful. I can't thank her enough for all she's done thus far and continues to do. She has made the incredibly stressful process of having a wedding a little less stressful. I would recommend any brides to work with her! I can't say how it all goes as my wedding hasn't happened yet. But I appreciate her to no end. Just to add to what an ama,ing experience the hilton was. The front deak was polite and super helpful, Jack was the MVP of the day getting our bridal party whatever they needed. He was the best. Rooms were clean. Thank you to everyone at the Hilton for helping make my weekend so special
Room was fine. However, the duvet smelled like armpits (not mine). The grout on the bathroom floor was black. Other than that, the room seemed clean and reasonably updated. We brought carry out to the only seating area in the lobby and were told we needed to move because it's for the "restaurant". The only other seating was an oddly large conference room table with seats so low or chins were on the table. It's like they don't want anyone to linger there. Ice machine is broken as is the central AC in the lobby. Meh experience, glad it was only one night.
I cannot express how disappointed, frustrated, and embarrassed I am by our experience with this hotel during my daughter and son-in-law’s wedding weekend. We reserved a large room block months in advance, trusting this hotel to provide a pleasant experience for our family and out-of-town guests. Instead, what should have been one of the happiest weekends of our lives became an unnecessary source of stress because of the hotel’s poor conditions and lack of management. There were multiple issues affecting numerous guests throughout our room block, including unacceptable room conditions, cleanliness concerns, maintenance problems, and service failures. Rather than focusing on celebrating the wedding, our family spent valuable time trying to resolve problems that never should have occurred. The most disappointing part was the complete lack of accountability from hotel management. I left multiple voicemail messages requesting a return call and spoke with numerous staff members, each assuring me that a manager would contact me. That call never came. Not once. Days later, I still had received no response, no apology, and no acknowledgment of the issues our guests experienced. I have since escalated to the corporate office. As the mother of the bride, I was mortified that our family and friends—many of whom traveled a great distance to celebrate with us—were subjected to these conditions. It was incredibly embarrassing to have to apologize to guests for circumstances that were entirely the responsibility of the hotel. Customer service does not end when guests check in. When serious concerns are brought to management’s attention, the expectation is that someone will take ownership, communicate, and make every effort to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this hotel for a wedding room block, family event, or any special occasion to think carefully before booking. The lack of management responsiveness and customer care was just as disappointing as the conditions themselves. A sincere apology, a simple return phone call and compensation would have gone a long way. Instead, we were left feeling ignored after one of the most important weekends of our family’s lives. I cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience. The hotel in my opinion should not be operational.
I rarely write reviews, but after staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Islip/MacArthur Airport this past weekend, I can honestly say it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. My sister and brother-in-law reserved a room block here for their wedding, and the majority of our family members who stayed at the hotel experienced some sort of issue. My room was in particularly poor condition. It had a strong musty odor and smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and pet urine. The carpet was also damp throughout the room from the A/C that was set to 62 upon check in and never dried even after increasing the temperature. By the time I returned home, the clothes in my suitcase smelled awful and felt damp from being in the room all weekend. The conditions were so bad that I went out and bought air fresheners just to make the room somewhat tolerable. I reported the issues to the front desk, and they took down my information so a manager could contact me. I was also told there were no other rooms available because the hotel was fully booked for multiple weddings, so changing rooms wasn’t an option. Despite being promised a follow-up from management, I never received a call. For the price this hotel charges (over $200 a night), the condition of the property is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the elevator was out of service multiple times throughout the weekend, causing several wedding guests to be delayed and arrive late for family photos before the ceremony. This hotel is in desperate need of a complete renovation before taking another dollar from its guests. What makes this experience even more disappointing is that the hotel appears to be a popular choice for wedding room blocks. It’s unfortunate that couples who have spent months—or even years—planning and investing in one of the most important weekends of their lives have to worry about their guests dealing with conditions like these. If you’re a bride or groom considering this hotel for your wedding room block, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. Your wedding weekend should be about celebrating with your family and friends—not having to deal with unsanitary rooms, broken facilities, and poor customer service.
States 1 night for business. Parking was adequate with a nightly charge. Check in was through app and digital keys worked with no issue. Room was clean and spacious. Bathroom was clean. Only 1 elevator was working with slight delays but manageable. Had dinner at bar which was the chef special and it was excellent! Bar staff was very friendly and courteous. Breakfast did not disappoint at all. Had omelette and tasted better than any other HGI I stayed at. Prices right for the amenities. Would stay again.
Definitely one of the best HGI I have stayed at. Food is great. Fun crowd at the bar. Room was clean and comfortable. Will be back again.
From the moment I walked in, the hotel receptionist Julissa set the tone for an exceptional stay. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were immediately noticeable. She greeted me with a genuine smile, handled my check-in efficiently, and went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcomed and comfortable.
Hotel was fine. Trixie the restaurant manager needs to learn some manners. She was drinking HEAVILY on the job. From what we heard from other employers is she’s a HUGE issue with a power trip
Absolutely not a 4 star hotel, walls were peeling and thermostat didn’t work. Heat or air stayed on nonstop even after set temp was reached, front desk told is to just turn it on and off. Part of a wedding block, some of our rooms came with breakfast vouchers some didn’t, absolutely no rhyme or reason and it wasn't explained by the desk at all and they didn't inform some guest until after they went thru the buffet it wasn't included and they now owed $18.99 for a reheated buffett. We all booked together, same price same everything, turns out front desk forgets sometimes to hand out voucher sometimes and you need to talk to the original person who check you in to make sure you didn't actually get your voucher and lose it or give it to someone else. Crazy, unprofessional rude staff that have no idea what's going on and bicker between front desk and restaurant. They lady doing breakfast just kept repeating "I'm just having a bad day" to each guest she served. Bride and groom had welcome bags for each room, half of the party didn't get the gift, were did they go? Parking in the mostly empty lot is not included, a QR code is posted several places around the lot, not every spot, so could be missed, and again the front desk doesn't tell you that you'll need to scan the code an pay $10 per DAY for parking or be towed...its not the city, plenty of parking and since it's in an industrial area nobody else is trying to park there and sightsee. NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL
I would not recommend this hotel. Recent stay on 12/8/25 front desk check in Asian girl very unfriendly didn’t seem to know what she was doing. Hotel very outdated. Room was terrible white bedspreads looked filthy. Asked front desk to assist as air conditioner would not turn down and room was freezing so maintenance shut off completely leaving no air flow in room. The mattress are old and you sink in from many uses.. just plain terrible don’t stay here!!!
