The Holiday Inn Express Hauppauge - Long Island receives mixed reviews, with significant concerns regarding cleanliness, bed bugs, room assignment issues, and rude staff. While some guests appreciate the convenient location and free parking, recurring problems with noise, outdated facilities, and billing errors detract from the overall experience. Recent reviews highlight a decline in service and maintenance.
Rooms definitely need an upgrade. Carpeting is old. At least it's very good for using and charging electronics. Outlets and USB ports available at work desk and at bedside. Location right off the highway with plenty of food and conveniences around.
We had a very poor experience at this property. There was loud banging and active work being done on the hotel during our stay. To make matters worse, the room we paid for was not the room we were given. We booked and paid for two queen beds, but were placed in a room with one king bed instead. The room itself was dirty, and we discovered bed bugs, which made the situation unacceptable. Due to the noise, cleanliness issues, and bed bug discovery, we checked out early. When we requested a credit, the hotel lied to Hotels.com, contradicting what they had previously confirmed to us by phone, and is now refusing to issue any refund or accommodation. This was an extremely disappointing experience. I would avoid this property at all costs. There are many other hotels in the area that I have stayed at which are significantly better and actually deliver what they promise.
Stayed here for 5 days. Room wasn't very clean upon arrival. Dead roach in the bathroom that somehow kept getting missed every time they've been in to clean the room. Staff was never rude but they weren't friendly and seemed generally unhappy to be there. Guess I can't fully blame them with some of the clientele coming through this hotel. Place seems dated with eerily slow elevators. No elevator maintenance placard displayed which is a little nerve racking. Not really what I expected from an IHG hotel.
I was grateful to stay here after being discharged from.the hospital we got the booking from a 3rd party . We had conditions for extra pillows and towels this was met. The room was clean . I am a germophobe so I walk with my own cleaning supplies. The staff was wonderful and attentive . The lemon water and cookies in lobby loved that. The breakfast impeccable Watching cars on the highway is very soothing. I will return
Wonderful place to stay - great staff, convenient location being right on the expressway exit. NYC drive can easily take about 60-90mins depending on traffic. Long Island locations would be a decent drive. - Full breakfast having good options - Free parking - Great views from the room My room floor wasn’t clean, lot of stains. otherwise its great place to stay with family or friends.
We asked for a room with a tub, the lady in tje front confirmed there was a tub. No tub. Asked for room change. They told us they would contact us when a room was free. We were there for 4 days without a swap. Did not refund the entirety of the deposit. Still missing 21 from the balance with no explanation. We stacked trash in a pile. The housekeeping at some point took both our washcloths without replacing them so I really hope that wasn't it. Neighbors were loud and their dog barked during the night, nothing was done about it.
If I could give negative stars I would. This was truly the WORST hotel experience we have had. Our room reservation was given to someone else, and then upon check in we are told that our room is no longer available and the hotel is sold out so they can’t help us. We had a valid reservation and confirmation and they gave away our room without checking IDs. The front desk staff and manager were extremely rude and not accommodating. We were left without a room that we actually paid for. The hotel took no responsibility. On top of this, the manager gave us another guest’s room keys - raising significant security concerns. We contacted corporate IGH who understood how badly the hotel screwed but also provided no help. Would never ever stay at an IGH property. If you care about your safety and security do not stay at this hotel.
Horrible experience. The front desk agents are rude and the manager that is guiding them is even more incompetent. I explained to them that my flight had been cancelled and if I could please cancel my reservation. They had no sympathy and charged me the full amount. For reference, I travel a lot and this happens many many times. Most hotels are considerate and understand that you're already frustrated that the situation is out of your control. Nope not here. They could care less. First time anyone charged me, even when I was willing to email them all the documents and ticket info.
This location is in need of a refresh, but that doesn't mean it's not a great place to stay, if you're not spending much time in the hotel. Water pressure is better than most, bathroom lighting is decent, but no exhaust fan for any exhaust you may have. Landry is on the bottom floor. 2 washers and 2 dryers, $2 for a wash cycle and $2 for a dry cycle. 1 of the 2 elevators are out of service, and there are 7 floors. Be prepared to wait a bit. Hey party people, the parking lot fills almost to capacity if you roll up after 10pm. NOTE: They are now charging for parking! The breakfast includes "push button" pancakes, mini cinni rolls, egg/meat/potato chafing dishes, yogurt, juice... you know, the standard fare. Interesting find: you can rent a fire stick for $20/day at the front desk, and they have a computer & printer for use in the business center.
I booked a room with this hotel around 2 months ago on Travelocity.com. My itinerary states "pay at the property." The card linked to my Travelocity had expired, so they called me that morning at around 10-11 twice before leaving a voicemail. I called them back, and they stated my card did not have enough money on it, duh. I told them I was to pay at the property. They said they needed to charge it now. I gave them a different card. When we got there, they wanted the amount for the room and for the deposit. This totaled to $282 and change, but because of the pending charge earlier in the day, I unfortunately didn't have $418 available on any of my cards to pay. We left and got another hotel down the road that charged me for the room over the phone, and then the deposit/incidental, which I was able to cover. IT SAYS PAY AT PROPERTY, not from my car on the phone while I was on my lunch break at work. The original charge on my credit card that I gave them fell off, but they went and charged my expired card, which is connected to my bank account, days later. I have reached out to both the hotel and Travelocity. Travelocity, every rep I have spoken to, has stated that I was not supposed to be charged before arriving at the property, but the hotel is still refusing to refund. I disputed the charge with my bank this morning, locked all cards, and deleted my payment information from Travelocity's website. This is not fair. You charge the customer ONE TIME when they arrive at the property for the room along with the fee for incidentals. NOT twice. I have never stayed here, and now I NEVER will lol.
