La Quinta Inn & Suites Islip Mac Arthur Airport has received largely negative reviews, highlighting serious cleanliness concerns, aging infrastructure, and issues with staff professionalism. While some guests appreciate the location and shuttle service, the overwhelming feedback suggests significant problems with the property's condition and maintenance.
To my horror this hotel is seriously so unkept. Peeling walls, mold in shower, holes in the coffee cups. Rips and tears in furniture and walls. This is absolutely unacceptable! I’ve never stayed at such a dirty and unkept hotel as this particular one! I immediately video taped the damages upon arrival. I spoke to the front desk and here is their response: “Well, we are undergoing renovations next month!” What does THAT have to do with my paid stay THIS WEEK? No answer! Checking out tomorrow and staying at a reputable hotel on Long Island quickly!
My stay at La Quinta Inn was highly unsatisfactory and overpriced. The hallway carpets are stained and worn, while the lobby is cluttered with boxes of uninstalled fixtures. Both rooms I occupied were substandard: the first smelled of smoke with ripped carpeting, and the second featured an unstable toilet and a malfunctioning shower. The mattresses were as hard as wooden planks, and the breakfast—consisting only of bread and fruit—was an absolute joke. Despite the decent gym and laundry facilities, this property felt like a run-down motel rather than the hotel I paid for.
My husband and I have stayed here yearly for business, and this year was by far the worst experience we’ve ever had entirely due to the behavior of Steve at the front desk. Steve was extremely unprofessional, dishonest, and dismissive. We had multiple rooms booked specifically with king beds. He insisted this was not the case and claimed our room was booked as a double. We were forced to contact the individual who made our reservations, who confirmed directly with hotel confirmation that the rooms were booked as kings. Despite this, Steve continued to argue, lied about the reservation details, antagonized us, and even laughed off our concerns. His behavior was inappropriate, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable especially toward repeat guests who return year after year for business. This is not a property I would normally choose when paying out of pocket, but based on our past experiences here, we expected professionalism. Unfortunately, Steve’s conduct fell far below any acceptable standard of customer service. As a nurse and business owner, I understand how important professionalism and respect are when dealing with clients. I would never allow an employee to treat customers the way we were treated. Because of this experience, we will not be returning, which is extremely disappointing given our history with this location.
I really enjoyed staying here and will return again when I visit home. The rooms are cozy and the memory foam mattress was comfortable.. The rugs in the room as well as some other decor needs updating but, I can live with it overall... The toilet mount was very loose in my room. I'll notify the desk to get that fixed for safety but once again, minor. There's are no USB outlets as well so bring your plugs. But, I can live with that as well... Lotion, and shower gel are supplied and that is a plus too.. See you guys again.
Decent hotel overall, some aspects were very good, while others fell short (6.9/10). Stayed 7 nights in April. Had to change rooms a few days in due to there being almost no hot water (I tried persevering but by night three it hadn't improved). The next room was better, but even then, one shower I had was lukewarm at best. Spacious rooms. Beds were very good. Bathroom is a good size, with good towels. Shower spray and water pressure are good. TV had a good selection of channels. Staff were very good. Breakfast was basic but good (for context, I'm satisfied with a bowl of cereal or some toast). I felt considering the size of the hotel that the breakfast options were surprisingly limited. Good size breakfast room. Parking was good. I would consider staying again, as for the area the price paid ($107 total per night) represented good value. That said, any future decision would be based on reading current reviews to see if the hot water issue has been addressed.
One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. The carpet throughout the whole place was stained or peeling up. Key cards/readers don’t work most of the time (many other guests were having the same problem). The guest laundry barely cleans or drys clothes. The parking lot has no lines so when it’s busy parking can become a nightmare. I could go on and on. It’s obvious this place is minimally maintained and in dire need of a remodel. I would not stay here again.
From start to finish, my stay at the La Quinta was awesome! Sandra at the front desk is wonderful, the room is spacious and comfortable, and the complimentary shuttle to the LIRR station and the airport in Long Island is exactly what I needed. The shuttle is on-demand, 7:00am to 3:00pm and the driver is great! 10/10 and highly recommend! ?
Came in for a wedding check in was smooth and location was easy to find however its in a industrial area. One to many shady people hanging around the parking lot which is poorly lit. The room was very old, couch sunk in, carpets were stained, curtains ripped, bathroom faucet was coming out of socket and barely warm water for a shower that I ended up having to get my hair done at a local salon so more money spent. Should have read the reviews first as hot water was one of the biggest complaints. Will not be staying here again.
I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was nice, clean, and very spacious, which made the stay comfortable and relaxing. The complimentary breakfast was good — it included bread, muffins, coffee, and fresh fruit. It was simple but convenient for starting the day. Overall, a good stay with clean accommodations and helpful amenities like mini fridge, microwave oven. Would consider staying again.
Fine for sleeping. Ripples and tears in carpet, holes in wall, toilet had leak and kept refilling, bent rusty door jam in bathroom, and old takeout in trash upon arrival. Staff was nice though and room temp was easily controlled. Stairwell was filthy and back door that “remains locked” was often ajar. Breakfast only offers carbs and sweet options. Nothing hot or fresh available.
