Lenhart Cottages offer a coastal retreat with ocean views and a convenient location near Montauk's beaches and attractions. While consistently praised for their charm and amenities, recent reviews highlight challenges with flexibility regarding bookings and potential concerns about pests and accessibility due to the property's hillside location.
My partner and I booked an off-season stay directly with Ron and put down a $1,000 deposit. A couple of days before check-in, my partner was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer, and I notified Ron immediately. We spent the days we were supposed to be on our trip at the hospital for appointments, scans, and tests. Despite the medical emergency — and the fact that it was the off-season with availability still showing online — he refused to return the deposit or offer a reasonable alternative. I then offered to move our booking to a June weekend, paying an additional $600. Once we had my partner’s chemo schedule (shared over two months in advance), it became clear we still couldn’t travel. Ron kept the full $1,600 and offered no accommodation or goodwill. I strongly recommend booking these cottages only through a platform with guest protections, as booking directly proved to offer no flexibility or recourse even in this rare and unfortunate situation.
Stayed here in February. Beautiful view of the ocean from the living room and the front bedroom. Large kitchen with outdoor grill. Have rented here many times and will continue coming back!
Stayed 2 nights in April 2024 - Great Location, Dogs are welcome. Was assigned Unit 7A - Large unit with 4BR, 2Baths (1 king, 2 Queen/full, 2 twin beds) has 2 BR 1 Bath upstairs and 3 beds 1Bath downstairs. Huge Kitchen well equipped / LR Open area - 1 TV in unit in Living Room. Couches do not pull out. Extra pillows and bedding found in closets. Had a picnic table in front, small patio out back (no chairs out back). Uphill trek from parking area but worth it for the view! Quick and easy access to the beach. Very relaxing weekend - Management was very nice and great communication via text. Grounds were well maintained and very clean! Nearby activities: Great spots for Hiking - Montauk Lighthouse - Gurneys Spa - Fabulous Restaurants. Safety: Felt very safe on the grounds. Very well lit at night. Walk to the beach after sunset will need a lantern or flashlight. Walkability: All Up Hill! If you are handicapped or cannot walk up/down hills to your room, ask when making reservation. There were a few cottages down by the road, but I'm sure you will hear road noise at night.
Our cottage was the perfect blend of cozy and quaint with touches of beach vibes that suited all of our needs while we ventured Montauk. Located along the Old Montauk Highway these cottages are hidden along the quiet coastal road. Easy driving distance to “downtown” it was an amazing escape within the escape. Walking distance to a beach (decent amount of stairs.
??Lenhart’s cottages were the perfect blend of cozy and quaint with touches of beach vibes that suited all of our families needs while we ventured Montauk. Located along the Old Montauk Highway these cottages are hidden along the quiet coastal road. Easy driving distance to “downtown” it was an amazing escape within the escape. Walking distance to a beach (decent amount of stairs) that was very quiet and felt private…we were lucky enough to see a whale venture its way along the coast?. Swimming pool available during the day as well which was never crowded. We will definitely be staying here again if available??
We had such a great stay and would definitely come back! It’s directly across from the beach. You can hear the ocean from the cottages & depending on the cottage, you will have an ocean view. Short drive from shops & restaurants. The space was plenty for a couple + 2 small dogs. Huge unfenced yard behind the cottages. We had small ants consistently in the cottage and tried to keep food sealed up & as clean as possible - it was manageable. If you’re bringing dogs- the area is tick heavy (at least time of year we came). Our dog is on preventatives but after one walk to the beach (walking path has brush around it) we found 3-4 ticks crawling on her & around 10 overall on her.
