The TownePlace Suites by Marriott Long Island/Farmingdale receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the spaciousness of the two-bedroom suites and helpful staff, while others report significant cleanliness issues, outdated facilities, and noise disturbances. Recent reviews indicate a decline in property maintenance and a lack of attention to detail, raising concerns about the overall guest experience.
Stayed here in the two bedroom suite with my dad, grandma, and uncle for a family members funeral. On the website it said that a rollaway bed could be provided, but when we got there, they told us that it was no longer available because of "safety concerns." When it came time to go to sleep, the couch pull out bed was impossible to use because the beam stabbed directly into your back. This meant that we all had to share beds, which was an utter nightmare. We got the suite for the specific reason to not have to share beds and to stay together, so this was very disappointing. There were also problems with our suite. It was mostly clean except for dust and spiders behind furniture, and hairs in the shower. In the bathroom there was no exhaust fan and you had to turn both the sink and the shower on at the same time just to get hot water. We should not had to have dealt with that for the price that we were paying to stay there. The staff was mostly friendly and we liked that we could control the temperature in each bedroom. Definitely expected more from a Marriot.
The staff at TownePlace Suites helped us right from the beginning, offering us a terrific upgrade to a two bedroom suite which was the perfect room for our traveling party. The location couldn't have been better, everything was spotless, with quality linens. Breakfast was a better breakfast than I am used to receiving in luxury hotels. Great options and variety of foods, condiments, and toppings. I would absolutely recommend this hotel particularly you have a larger traveling party and a need for separate rooms.
Stayed for 5 nights and had an amazing time. The staff are so friendly and professional, it almost feels like each one has ownership in the place. Every staff member seemed like they could have been a manager. The location is incredibly convenient, about 20 minutes from both Jones Beach and Robert Moses, but back to the hotel itself, it was hitting close to 100 degrees for a few days and you could never tell from inside the room. We had a 2 bedroom, and the AC in each room could be set as cold as you wanted and would get the room there in no time. The Blue Angels were staying there too when we stayed there. Breakfast was excellent. Separately, they had coffee, tea, lemon water, and hot chocolate available 24 hours, plus a daily special juice that was usually out during the day. We used them often, and not once was anything ever even near empty. While walking in the hallway, I could sometimes hear a voice from inside another room, but once I was in my room, I never heard a peep from anywhere else. The windows actually open, which was a nice bonus. They also welcome you to use the amenities at their sister hotel on the same property. Also, never ending hot water and solid water pressure. Sounds dumb, but it is a big deal. Throughout the stay, I kept noticing little things and thinking, this is exactly the kind of thing I want to mention in a review, and I am sure I am forgetting a decent amount of those things. O yea, such as them having games and all this random helpful stuff you can use. They offered a crock pot lol. Stayed with my wife and two little kids. I was really impressed and feel fortunate to have this hotel at the airport, especially since I do business and travel to the airport regularly. An LED light in the shower area would have been nice, it felt a little dark and also an extra mirror outside of the bathroom would be nice if your staying with more than one adult.
Hotel was great received an upgraded room which was great. The rooms just need to be upgraded along with the breakfast area. Front desk was helpful and very friendly and nice. Would stay again with no problem.
Lots of pros: Very clean rooms and common areas, very helpful staff, rooms a bit small for a suite but well laid out, and breakfast selection modest with very creative hot food selections. A very big con: the HVAC was loud enough to wake the dead. My wife and I were very satisfied with this property realizing it is the Marriott budget suite option.
Very underwhelming. Arrived in town and it didn’t feel inviting. The hotel seemed to be an old econolodge or super 8 “redone”. Everything was outdated but covered in modern. The registration area was nice and to be expected. Smelled clean. Walking into our hall and there was a stale stagnant air. Like no air flow and then you get hit with stale cigarette smoke. Someone was definitely smoking in one of the rooms. Our room was clean. Linen was clean. We didn’t really use the small kitchenette. Room smelled clean as well with windows that open. The bathroom was dated and very tight. Check out was smooth and was nice to get coffee. We didn’t not use the breakfast option for this stay. Over all… it was ok for the stay.. a lot could definitely be updated (can still tell it was an older hotel)
Adequate for price. I paid $300 for 1 night in a suite. However, when booking the room, they neglected to say there was an additional charge for dogs. They call themselves pet friendly, but then charge you $150 more because I have a dog. I get having to pay extra, or a deposit if the dog ruins anything, but $150???? For 1 night?? And it is not a deposit. I will not get that money back. It's robbery!! And sneaky that they did not tell me when I called.
I would not suggest staying here if you care about cleanliness or getting a good nights sleep. Upon arrival, was very disappointed with the overall appearance of the hotel. The lobby area doesn’t look like the photos online at all. It’s dark and not super inviting. They did provide a welcome bag, which is a nice touch. Room itself was dingy, dirty and outdated. Curtains were ripped, had to use a claw clip to close them to not allow light in. End tables had dirt and hair hanging from the adhesive on the wire channels. The floor in the bathroom was stained with lipstick which was also all over the sheets. Also the bed itself was sunken in from years of people sleeping on it. Mattress was in desperate need of replacement or the at the very least flipping. First night from 12am-4am people were running around the hallways, slamming doors and smoking weed. Had to put a towel under the door and through the very large gaps around the door to try to stop the smell from entering my room. Most nights during my stay people were out and about all hours of the night. Very little noise insulation it seems. Was hard to sleep most nights. Housekeeping isn’t every day and they really don’t clean much when they do come. Floors were extremely dirty (all laminate type flooring). There was free breakfast every morning, and it wasn’t bad. They ran out of things pretty quickly and once they ran out of something you just didn’t get any more. Like the first day we stayed they had plain and everything bagels. All the plain bagels were eaten so they left just the everything bagels in the case the rest of our weeklong trip. Staff was friendly. They made it a point to give my son a little treat bag while we were waiting for our ride one day. Overall, if you aren’t a sensitive sleeper or don’t care too much about cleanliness it’s an okay stay. But after staying at the Courtyard Marriott that is literally across from it, I can say the stays were completely different and for the maybe $200 difference I would just stay there.
The breakfast was great, staff was lovely. Those are the only good things about this hotel. When walking in, it felt like walking into a school principal's office. The entire first floor smells. Our room, on the 3rd floor, had drawers that didn't close, heater/fan which is very loud when it turns on - wakes you up all night, the furniture feels like super cheap/broken 2nd hand furniture. Very outdated. This is not what I expect from any Marriott property. The water on arrival is lovely, and they staff was kind. The breakfast was plentiful and good. Don't waste your money staying here. It is awful. Attached are 2 pictures of furniture in the room. Broken/scratched - something you expect to see in a college dorm at the end of freshman year.
This hotel is showing its age and is unfortunately not being well cared for: 1. Paint is peeling throughout 2. fixture in our bathroom was not working and had black mold around it. 3. Gym had no towels, no scales On the good news front, water was hot and parking was not an issue (and free) and the sound proofing appears to have been well done. However, cannot recommend it.
